Yiyang Yuan, BS, MPH

Yiyang Yuan is currently a first year Ph.D. student in the Clinical and Population Health Program. She received her MPH from the University of California Los Angeles and MS in health services research from Boston University. Her research primarily focuses on secondary data analysis of existing large databases. She is interested in disparities in the nursing home quality of care, especially in the care for depression. She is also enthusiastic about statistical modeling techniques in longitudinal analysis. Yiyang enjoys digging deep into the data and believes there is a story to tell behind every statistic. She hopes to use the stories uncovered through rigorous research to improve the quality of care at nursing homes and help families make informed decisions. Yiyang is funded by the F99 grant from the National Institute on Aging for her dissertation research on physical frailty and cognitive impairment in older U.S. nursing home residents.
