Advancing Evidence-Based Practices
for PhD Professional Development
Scholarly Focus
PhD-trained scientists play important roles across the scientific enterprise and in society. In spite of this, graduate and postdoctoral education have traditionally focused on academic science, lacking an evidence-based approach to holistically supporting the career and professional skills development of early-career scientists. My scholarship focuses on understanding the interests and challenges faced by early-career scientists as they explore and navigate their career, enhancing educational approaches to address these challenges, and building national capacity for evaluation, research, and dissemination of effective practices in PhD career development.
Scholarly ProjectsEngagement
Engaging with stakeholders across the scientific community is critical for understanding key challenges facing our field, and for applying diverse perspectives to addressing these challenges. I welcome opportunities to exchange ideas with colleagues, share our work, collaborate, and learn from others.
