Tomographic Breast Imaging Laboratory

The Tomographic Breast Imaging Laboratory strives to improve the diagnostic accuracy of imaging methods for detecting breast cancer. Our research focuses on the development and evaluation of tomographic imaging systems that can provide three-dimensional visualization of breast tissue. In particular, methods for improving image quality of the emerging technologies of breast tomosynthesis and breast CT are being investigated.

In addition, our group is seeking to procure funding to build the world’s first dedicated time-of-flight breast PET scanner that can be integrated with breast CT to provide fused breast PET/CT imaging. This system will also provide PET/CT-guided biopsy capability.
