NIH 1R01CA166379: MR-guided Precision Conformal Ablation Therapy for Brain Tumors

Project period: 5/17/2013 – 4/30/2018

The major goal of this project (PIs: Greg Fischer, WPI, and Julie Pilitsis, Albany Medical Center) is to develop MRI-compatible interstitial ultrasonic neuroablation instruments and adapt existing high-intensity
ultrasound interstitial flexible catheter ablation devices specifically for use in brain tissue, including smaller diameter and additional insonation directional control. Subcontract to Gounis and Zheng, UMass Chan.

Wyss Institute: Revascularization in Thromboembolic Vascular Occlusion Using Nanoparticle Micro-aggregates Coated with Tissue Plasminogen Activator

Project period: 8/1/2013 –10/31/2013

The major goal of this project is to demonstrate proof of concept and optimize delivery of this novel thrombolytic nanomedicine for the treatment of stroke.

Philips Healthcare: Imaging in Neurointervention

Project period: 7/1/2006 –12/31/2017

The major goal of this project is to develop imaging solutions for the minimally invasive treatment of cerebrovascular disease.

Stryker Neurovascular: Preclinical Assessment of Cerebrovascular Implants

Project period, 3/16/2010 – 4/28/2015

The major goal of this project is to optimize and characterize the safety and efficacy profiles of cerebrovascular implants.

Fraunhoefer Institute: Early Discrimination of Cerebral Hemorrhage and Artery Occlusion

Project period: 4/1/2013 – 4/1/2014

The major goal of this project is to demonstrate proof-of-concept that stroke sub-type can be accurately diagnosed with a point-of-care instrument.

eV3 Neurovascular: In Vitro Assessment of Mechanical Thrombectomy

Project period: 3/26/2013-3/26/2014

The central purpose of this project is to develop techniques and optimize devices to reduce distal emboli created during mechanical thrombectomy.
