Lisa Mistler Assistant Professor of Psychiatry
Attending Psychiatrist, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital

Clinical Activity

Dr. Mistler has been an attending psychiatrist on acute units at New Hampshire Hospital (NHH) and the Deaf Unit at Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital for a total of 14 years, working with multidisciplinary teams to serve individuals who have serious mental illness.

Research Interest

While at NHH, Dr. Mistler worked with Dr. Stan Rosenberg on his R01 designed to treat people with serious mental illness and Hepatitis C with ribavirin and interferon. Both of these projects resulted in publications. She was the lead content developer on the SAMHSA Shared Decision Making Initiative's interactive online, client-centered decision aid for antipsychotic medication. She has developed a manualized treatment retention program using motivational enhancement for emerging adults and is a co-I on an R01 application whose PI is Dr. Maryann Davis. She is also developing a mindfulness smoking cessation treatment for individuals with schizophrenia.

Educational Activity

Dr. Mistler has taught and supervised medical students and residents for 12 years. A member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, she has also led training in motivational interviewing for NH, MA, MD and VT departments of behavioral health and other facilities for the past 8 years.
