Post Sophomore Fellowship

The Department of Pathology sponsors two one-year post-sophomore fellowships for medical students who have successfully completed their basic sciences or students who are in their clinical training period. Students actively participate, under faculty supervision, in the surgical pathology and autopsy rotations, and are also given two months of elective time to actively pursue personal areas of interest and/or research. During the elective time, student fellows may have an opportunity to participate in other anatomic pathology subspecialties and in some clinical pathology (laboratory medicine) rotations. Student fellows function as junior residents, participating in all regular anatomic pathology service activities and teaching conferences. Each student is assigned a faculty member to be his/her professional and personal advisor during the year.  Post-Sophomore Fellows currently receive a stipend approximately equivalent to one half the salary of a PGY1 resident.

Requirements: The Post-sophomore Fellowship is open to qualified medical students who have completed at least two years in an accredited U.S. institution.
