Description: The Department of Pathology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School – UMass Memorial Medical Center offers a one-year ACGME – accredited fellowship program in Hematopathology. The UMass Memorial Medical Center is the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the largest health care system in Central Massachusetts. The Department of Pathology provides hematopathology consultation services to all of Central Massachusetts. Approximately 1600 bone marrows, 300 lymph node specimens and 2500 diagnostic flow cytometry cases are seen annually. The program is designed to provide the trainee a broad exposure to all aspects of diagnostic hematopathology, including bone marrow and lymph node pathology, peripheral blood and body fluid examination, general hematology and coagulation, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology and cytogenetics. The fellows are encouraged to work with the faculty, or independently, during their training to pursue a research project.
Requirements: Candidates should possess MD degree and be board certified/eligible in anatomic pathology (AP), clinical pathology (CP), or anatomic pathology and clinical pathology (AP/CP) and must have passed Step 3 of the USMLE.
