Fostering development of a faculty workforce representative of the communities we serve.
Consistent with the strategic goals to create the workforce of the future, the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) is dedicated to UMass Medical School’s goal of supporting and fostering the recruitment, retention and career development of faculty that are under-represented in medicine and the sciences at UMMS. The OFA will continue efforts to increase the competitiveness of UMMS in attracting and retaining a faculty workforce that is representative of the communities we serve. To achieve these goals the OFA administers the following programs.
Faculty Diversity Scholars Program (FDSP)
The Faculty Diversity Scholars Program is a research fellowship with the primary goal to support the recruitment and career advancement of faculty from diverse backgrounds that are underrepresented in the health sciences. Click here for more information.
The OFA co-sponsors attendance at national conferences and seminars for under-represented minority faculty in support of their professional development. Included is attendance at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Minority Faculty Career Development Seminar designed for junior faculty who aspire to leadership positions in academic medicine.
