New England Aids Education Training Center

The New England AIDS Education and Training Center provides education and training for health care providers to more effectively counsel, diagnose, treat, and manage individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and assists in HIV/AIDS prevention efforts.

New England Aids Education Training Center is one of eleven HIV/AIDS regional education centers, and four national centers funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The major health professions education program for the six New England states, is based at the Office of Community Programs (OCP) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The New England Aids Education Training Center offers programs in collaboration with community health centers, Ryan White-affiliates, hospitals, medical centers, state and local health departments, professional medical associations, AIDS service organizations, medical and osteopathic schools, and other community agencies. New England Aids Education Training Center programs target physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, pharmacists, as well as other health, social work, mental health, and substance abuse professionals.

New England Aids Education Training Center also sponsors the New England HIV Education Consortium (NEHEC) a HRSA Minority AIDS Initiative program, serving Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The consortium strives to support the training and educational needs of Healthcare Support Service Providers, especially minority providers, and those providers serving racial/ethnic/linguistic minorities and communities of color.
