Have extra books? Donate them to the Worcester Public Schools Book Drive

UMass Medical School is once again participating in the “Worcester: The City that Reads Book Drive.” The annual book drive promotes literacy in the community, puts books into the hands of children who may not have books in their homes and promotes the importance of being a lifetime reader. More than 320,000 books have been collected and distributed to children in the Worcester community since the drive was established 10 years ago. UMMS is one of the largest contributors to this cause.

Collection bins for new and gently used books geared toward children in prekindergarten through eighth grade are located in the lobbies of the Medical School and Lazare Research Building; on the second floor atrium of the Albert Sherman Center; at the South Street campus in Shrewsbury near the mailroom; in Boston at the MassBiologics café and the Schrafft Center reception area.

The book drive runs through May 8. For additional information, contact the Office of Community and Government Relations at 508-856-4400.
