State officials toured the call center at UMass Medical School’s UHealthSolutions Inc. in Worcester on Nov. 17 after announcing the launch of MassOptions, a resource to help elderly residents, individuals with disabilities and their caregivers. MassLive and the Telegram & Gazette reported on the announcement.

“We feel that having people aware of the various options is critical,” said Joyce A. Murphy, executive vice chancellor of UMass Medical School's Commonwealth Medicine division. “I still think in the entire health care arena, it's very complicated for people to navigate.”

During the tour, Dawn Dias, a call center specialist for MassOptions at UHealthSolutions, explained to Lt. Gov. Karyn E. Polito how the trained specialists will work with people calling MassOptions to connect them with long-term supports and services.

Administered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services, MassOptions is funded through a portion of a $135 million Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services grant. UHealthSolutions, a business affiliate of UMass Medical School, has a dedicated MassOptions team.

MassOptions is a free program that is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. The specialists can be reached by calling the toll-free phone number 1-844-422-6277 or by visiting the website at www.MassOptions.org.
