Chancellor Collins, biotech leaders tout Massachusetts as ‘epicenter of science’

Innovative scientists, researchers and biotech leaders from Massachusetts will attend the BIO International Convention in Philadelphia, Penn., this week to showcase how the state became the “epicenter of science.”

“One of the things that is so special about Massachusetts is that we have a collaborative gene. We believe in working together,” Chancellor Michael F. Collins says in a video used to highlight the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council.

State officials, executives from biotech firms and senior scientists will provide insight and inspiration on the major trends affecting the industry in the Commonwealth at the conference, which runs through Thursday, June 18.

“The Massachusetts Life Sciences Super Cluster is unique because of its sheer scale and the caliber of the stakeholders,” said Kristina Isakovich, chief marketing officer with GE Healthcare Life Sciences, a participating member. “You can’t build a better ecosystem for driving the kinds of innovations that will allow people to address health care’s most significant challenges and some of the toughest diseases out there.”

In addition to hosting several panel discussions during the convention, MassBio will host #Impact2020, a Twitter chat focused on keynotes from the convention, along with trends and themes in the biotech industry. The chat will run from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, from MassBio’s Twitter handle (@MassBio) using the #Impact2020 hashtag.
