Commonwealth Medicine pharmacy director to speak about drug development at MassBio forum

Paul L. Jeffrey, PharmD, the pharmacy director of the Office of Clinical Affairs within the Center for Health Policy and Research, will speak on a panel that discusses how organizations bring effective drug treatments to the market at an Oct. 8 Massachusetts Biotechnology Council forum.

In his position at CHPR, a unit of UMass Medical School's Commonwealth Medicine division, Jeffrey provides broad clinical support to MassHealth, the Massachusetts Medicaid program. He also serves as director of pharmacy for MassHealth, which is administered by the Office of Medicaid in the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.

Jeffrey will lend his expertise during the session, “Selling the Dream: Partners, Payers, & Patients,” at the forum, which will be held at the MassBio headquarters in Cambridge.

The panel will address key issues related to stakeholder collaboration in the drug development process, including when to think about commercialization, the role of patients and navigating the changing health care system.

MassBio is a not-for-profit organization that represents and provides services and support for the Massachusetts biotechnology industry, and is the nation’s oldest biotechnology trade association.
