Community outreach manager named

Jesse Edwards has joined the Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion and Community & Government Relations teams as community outreach and diversity manager, announced Deborah L. Plummer, PhD, vice chancellor, Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion and Jim Leary, vice chancellor, Office of Community & Government Relations.

In this newly combined role, Edwards will co-lead efforts in the Office of Community & Government Relations to promote stronger links between UMMS and the Worcester community. He will also work collaboratively with the Diversity and Equal Opportunity Office to build diverse talent pipelines, and recruit, retain and engage underrepresented groups of faculty, staff and students. Working with Marlene Tucker, director of Diversity and Equal Opportunity, Edwards will conduct EEO investigations. In addition, he will work collaboratively with the UMMS Purchasing Department to increase participation of diverse suppliers to obtain UMMS’s strategic vision for supplier diversity.

Edwards brings to UMMS a rich mix of experience in non-profit, social service and municipal arenas with his last experience as director of the Youth Opportunities Office for the City of Worcester. Plummer and Leary said Edwards is a “great fit for this challenging and rewarding position.”
