Keith Yamamoto, PhD, a leading advocate for public understanding and support of biological research and science education, will speak on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. in the Albert Sherman Center Auditorium.
Dr. Yamamoto, vice chancellor for research, executive vice dean of the School of Medicine and professor of cellular and molecular pharmacology at the University of California, San Francisco, will present “Science With Impact: NIH Policy Strategies for Advancing Science and the Scientific Workforce.” The lecture is hosted by the Office of Faculty Affairs and Cynthia Fuhrmann, PhD, assistant dean of career development for the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Exploration of traditional and non-traditional career paths for the biomedical work force will continue the following day when Yamamoto participates in a symposium co-organized by Dr. Fuhrmann at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science being held in Boston. He will share the findings from the National Institutes of Health’s Biomedical Work Force Committee, of which he was a member, in the symposium titled “Preparing Our Future Scientific Work Force to Ensure the Success of Science.”
