The Plantation Street Garage will open and the two off-campus parking shuttle lots will close on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Students and staff who currently use the shuttle lots are now assigned to this garage, which is located a quarter mile from campus.
Before Jan. 22, employees who currently park in the shuttle lots must exchange their parking tags for a Plantation Street Garage tag at the Parking Office, HA-531, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Once the garage is open, shuttle buses will run every seven to 10 minutes from the garage to the Third Road shuttle drop off, weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. All employees and students are allowed to park on campus after 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and any time on weekends and holidays.
Employees assigned to the garage will pay the unreserved rate; students will pay a student rate. First-year students currently in the shuttle program will have their parking costs pro-rated.
Plantation Street parkers who wish to park in an unreserved on-campus lot will be placed on a waiting list based on their date of hire. After May 1, employees who currently park on campus may opt to park at the Plantation Street Garage after exchanging their hanging tags; if such employees wish to revert to on-campus parking in the future, they will then be placed at the end of the waiting list..
