Finberg in Boston Globe on predicting next year’s flu

Robert W. Finberg, MD, the Richard M. Haidack Professor of Medicine and chair and professor of medicine, spoke to the Boston Globe about his work to develop new ways of predicting how the influenza virus changes and evolves in response to anti-viral drugs and the human immune system.

“The goal will be to predict next year’s virus,” Dr. Finberg said.

In the story, which details how Massachusetts researchers are developing new technologies to fight the flu, Finberg also talks about a new antiviral treatment called Favipiravir he is getting ready to test in a trial that will soon be open to the public.
