More than 200 fundraising teams participated in the 2012 UMass Medicine Cancer Walk, including many launched by UMass Medical School departments and employees. One of these teams earned the honor of top UMMS fundraising team for the 14th annual walk, which took place in September.

Led by Elena Del Prete, contract and grant specialist, the Cancer Research Office (CRO) Team raised more than $5,600 to benefit cancer research and patient care at the UMass Medicine Cancer Center of Excellence. On Jan. 9, Chancellor Michael F. Collins hosted a luncheon to thank the CRO fundraisers for their outstanding efforts.

The walk has raised more than $7 million since its inception in 1999. The 15th annual UMass Medicine Cancer Walk will take place on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013.
