A new tissue expansion device for mastectomy patients, under clinical trial at UMass Medical School, was featured on WBZ TV, with John Castle, MD, clinical assistant professor of surgery, reporting that it could replace the traditional saline method.
Participant Joan Greffrath of Worcester, the first woman in Worcester to try the remote-controlled, needle-free, tissue expansion system known at The AeroForm Patient Controlled Tissue Expander System, said she was delighted to avoid needles.
“Having had 14 months of chemo, having no needles was wonderful,” Greffrath told WBZ.
