The Republican interviewed Jeroan Allison, MD, MS, professor of quantitative health sciences, about the new UMass Center for Health Equity Intervention Research. The center, funded by a $6.7 million grant from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, is focused on improving healthcare among minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged populations.
“So often the health care we receive depends not on a medical condition, but on what color our skin is or how much money we have. The research in this center will be dedicated to overcoming this pervasive problem,” Dr. Allison, principal investigator for the center, told the Springfield paper.
