Sixty students from 15 Greater Worcester high schools converged on UMass Medical School for the 6th Annual Brain Bee on Saturday, Feb. 4, sponsored by the Brudnick Neuropsychiatric Research Institute at UMMS. The three hour competition ended with the winner, Acton-Boxborough High School junior Nivedha Ram (pictured far right, middle row), receiving the Andrew M. Sheridan Young Neuroscientist Award from Doug Ziedonis, MD, MPH, chair and professor of psychiatry. Ram will now compete at the national Brain Bee in Baltimore.

Sheldon Benjamin, MD, professor of psychiatry and neurology, served as master of ceremonies for the day’s event.
