The 11th annual Women’s Faculty Awards were presented at a luncheon on May 16. Sponsored by the Women’s Faculty Committee, the awards honor faculty members—men and women—for outstanding community service, excellence in education, achievement in health and science, excellence in clinical care and outstanding mentoring.
Marianne Felice, MD, chair and professor of pediatrics, gave the keynote address, asking the question Are There Differences Between Mentoring Men Versus Women? Her answer was yes, and she highlighted some of them, including: the reasons that women and men seek mentors, the issues discussed and their expectations. While Dr. Felice was quick to note that her opinion is just that—opinion—she has mentored hundreds of men and women throughout her career and concluded her talk by saying, “Vive la difference!”
