Dr. Gagliardi to deliver Last Lecture

Educational Recognition Awards celebrate teaching at UMass Chan

Susan B. Gagliardi, PhD, the first recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Teaching, will deliver The Last Lecture at the 12th annual Educational Recognition Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, April 12, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the Integrated Teaching and Learning Center (iTLC), S2-318 in the Medical School building. Once seats in the iTLC are filled, people will be directed to Amphitheater I, where the event will be live-streamed. Dr. Gagliardi and Chancellor Michael F. Collins talk about the upcoming lecture in this video. 



The following awards will be presented at the ceremony, prior to the lecture: 

    • Lamar Soutter Award: David Hatem, MD; Susan Starr, MEd 
    • Educational “Star” Award: Mary O’Brien, MD, and Bill Royer, PhD; Mark Dershwitz, MD, PhD, and Charles Sagerstrom, PhD; James Liebmann, MD, and Rick Pieters, MD

    • GSBS Dean’s Award: Lucio Castilla, PhD

      For outstanding contribution to curricular development: Stephen Jones, PhD; George Reed, PhD 
      For research mentoring and commitment to student professional advancement: Phillip Zamore, PhD
      For contributions in the lecture and classroom settings: Brian Lewis, PhD
