Volunteers clean up Bell Pond during Day of Caring
About 40 volunteers from UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial Health Care helped clear a walking path from the Seabury Heights complex to Bell Hill Pond on Thursday, Sept. 15, as part of the United Way Day of Caring. The group also cleaned up the pond and the public park area.
The statewide Day of Caring event was established in 1992 to promote the spirit and value of volunteerism, increase the awareness of local human service agencies and schools, and demonstrate what people working together can accomplish for the community.
See the volunteers in action and hear Vice Chancellor for Community and Government Relations Jim Leary explain the significance of the event.
