Neurology Comprehensive Care CenterThe Department of Neurology Neuromuscular Disease Center at UMass Memorial Medical Center provides groundbreaking treatment services to our patients in central and western Massachusetts with diagnosed or suspected neuromuscular disorders to discover new understandings in disease science, advanced diagnostic testing, and treatment solutions designed to improve our patient's quality of life.

Our specialty program center experts provide educational opportunities to residents, fellows, and trainees seeking to specialize in specific neurological diseases and disabilities within neuromuscular diseases while having access to other subspecialty electives such as stroke and neurovascular diseases, multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and other movement disorders, Alzheimer's, dementia, cognitive neurology, neurological rehabilitation and recovery for traumatic brain injuries, headache, sleep neurology, neuro-diagnostics, with the intent to bring hope and support to patients and families.

Our comprehensive care team includes dedicated full-time faculty physicians and researchers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse navigators, social workers, neurosurgeons, and clinical support teams. In addition, patients may have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials.

Appointment Information

We are honored you entrust us with your care!
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment, allowing time for basic neurologic testing before you meet with the physician or nurse practitioner. 

The initial evaluation appointment includes 60 - 80 minutes with the neurologist or nurse practitioner and a medical history review. Subsequent visits are 30 - 45 minutes. 

Preparing for Your First Visit
It is important for you to feel understood in discussing your symptoms and concerns with the neurologist. Patients have found it helpful to prepare a record of their symptoms with questions to discuss during the appointment. Important items to bring with you to your first appointment include:  

  • Current medication list 
  • Notes from previous doctors’ histories and examinations 
  • Copies of lab tests/reports 
  • Films or digital images (on CD) of brain imaging 

Parking is available for an hourly fee in the patient/visitor parking lot on South Road. Valet parking and handicapped parking are available for a flat fee in two locations. Remillard Family Pavillion (main entrance) from 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Call 800-599-8916 for questions regarding valet parking. The Emergency Department is open 24/7.
