Internal Medicine Residency

About the program

The goal of our three-year Internal Medicine Residency Program is to provide training in subspecialty and general internal medicine as a background for individual career choices.

We educate our residents in the broad field of internal medicine including such areas as cost containment, medical decision making, medical ethics, behavior modification, preventive medicine, and the resident as educator.

Our program is unique in that housestaff play an active role in our ongoing program development. It is expected that they participate in discussions about patient care issues and in formulating residency program policy. Less formal housestaff and faculty interactions occur throughout the year, including housestaff lunch meetings, parties, picnics, and retreats.

The educational objectives discussed above are accomplished during an integrated three-year program in a variety of educational settings in inpatient acute care medicine, ambulatory care training, and elective rotations.
