• Notification: Important changes to access Clinical Follow-Me-Desktop (FMD) coming – Immediate action required

    Computers used to access the clinical FMD environment will be required to have a new software product called VMWare View installed in order to access the environment after March 29, 2017. 

     

    For University Owned Computers - On March 11, 2017, the Medical School IT department is deploying the required software to most university owned computers that need this software.  If your university owned computer does not receive this software, you may visit the IT SoftStore after March 17 to request an automatic installation of the software title “FMD Client”.

     

    For Student and/or Personally Owned Computers – Please visit this link to locate instructions for downloading and installing the software on your computer.

UMassMed is now a participating institution in the EDUROAM project. Our participation allows visitors from other participating schools and institutions to use their own (participating school/institution) credentials to log in securely to the EDUROAM Wireless SSID.  Likewise, if a UMMS student/researcher/professor is at another university that has EDUROAM, they can log in with their own umassmed.edu ID.

How does eduroam work?

eduroam is a worldwide federation of RADIUS servers that facilitates network access for roaming academic affiliates. eduroam is built with IEEE 802.1X and RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial In User Service) network protocols. These established technologies are well understood, easy to manage standards and are often already deployed within the network infrastructure of educational institutions.

How do I connect to the new WiFi?

When you connect to UMMS you are automatically on our new high speed internet.

Where can we access the new WiFi?

You can access the new WiFi anywhere in our Medical School campuses.

 

How come I am not seeing the faster speeds on my device connected to UMMS?

If your laptop/phone/device is older than 3 years, it may not have the right configuration to utilize the newer technology needed for high speeds.

Will I be able to use WiFi in the Quad?

Yes, with the new upgrade , you will be connected to the WiFi in the Quad.

How do I login to Eduroam?

You can login to any participating univeristy's eduroam network by using your UMMS email id as the user id and the UMMS email password as the password.
