iCELS Course FAQ's

Where do I park?

If you do not have a reserved parking at UMMHC or UMMS please park in the visitor garage adjacent to the main Hospital entrance

Is there a charge for parking and will parking be reimbursed?

There is a charge for parking and we do not reimburse you for parking.

How long is my card valid for?

BLS, ACLS, PALS- 2 years, FCCS – 3 years ATLS- 4 years 

When do I get my moderate sedation sticker?

The credentialing office provides sedation stickers after successful completion of ACLS+.

What is the difference between the provider vs retrain class?

The provider course provides the foundations and basic knowledge needed to be successful in the course. The retrain course provides updates as our courses based on are evidence based medicine.

Is there an online option?

You must visit or to purchase the online course. After completion please contact our office to arrange a skills test (additional charge).

When do I receive a book?

You may pick your book up in our office or one will be sent to you two weeks prior to the course you are registered for.

How do I know what dates are available for training and how do I register?

Our registration system automatically lists courses as full when the enrollment limit has been reached.  You can register for courses by visiting

What if I lost my card, how do I replace it?

You may contact the office to replace your card. There is a $10 fee to issue replacement cards.

Can anyone take BLS for the healthcare provider?

Healthcare provider BLS is recommended for healthcare providers at any level. The course is not recommended for the lay public.

What if I cannot make the class and have to cancel?

Courses are refundable minus an administrative fee if the cancellation occurs 10 business days prior to the course. Within the 10 days you may transfer to another date without penalty.

Where are courses located?

Courses are held in the iCELS learning center at UMass Medical School. iCELS is located in the Albert Sherman Center (368 Plantation Street, Worcester).

I took an online course that does not require an in-person skills test, can I get a certificate card from UMass?

No, AHA online courses require an in person skills test, these courses are not transferable.
