ACLS+ Retraining for Moderate Sedation Providers

The Credentialing Committee and the Sedation Committee have changed the credentialing requirements for physicians and affiliate practitioners currently providing moderate sedation at UMMHC locations. ACLS certification alone will no longer suffice for Moderate Sedation credentialing. Moderate sedation providers are now required to maintain ACLS+ certification as part of their credentialing at UMMHC to improve patient safety. This one day course provides the learner with enhanced sedation training by covering topics such as Patient Selection, Sedation Toxicology, Managing the Airway and Identifying the difficult airway and how to safely care for over sedated and hypoxic patients. Resuscitation simulations at the end of the course mimic emergencies seen with moderate sedation.

Learners have the option of enrolling in ACLS+ (online ACLS recertification and Moderate Sedation, ACLS skills verification during sedation course)
- or -
Learners may separately schedule a traditional classroom based ACLS retraining course and enroll in only the moderate sedation course.

As a reminder, to maintain sedation credentialing at UMMHC providers must maintain both American Heart Association ACLS and Moderate Sedation training.
