Mothers' Rooms

The Medical School has eight Mothers' Rooms where breastfeeding mothers can go to feed their babies or pump breast milk. The rooms are located in the following places:

University Campus: S6-100A and S6-100B - both locations are equipped with a hospital grade Medela pump; mothers must bring their own accessories.

South Street Campus: Two private spaces located on the second floor of building 1-SHR 1-2, both spaces are equipped with a hospital grade Medela pump; mothers must bring their own accessories.

Worcester State Hospital: BB2-204, contact Christine Bibeault, x62648

Biotech IV: B4-314C, Contact Denise Maclachlan, x68773 to schedule a time. This location is equipped with a hospital grade Medela pump; mothers must bring their own accessories.

Adoption

Consultation Service

The Center for Adoption Research provides individualized assistance and information to employees and their partners. Adoption consultants from The Center will provide confidential information that will enable employees to approach the adoption process with an understanding of choices and steps involved. To initiate a consultation, call The Center for Adoption Research at 508-856-5397.

Adoption Assistance

UMMS provides financial assistance of $1,000 on a per child, per family basis for certain IRS qualified adoption expenses. Adoption Assistance is available for non-unit employees who are benefit eligible. Qualified expenses include attorney fees, court costs, adoption fees and traveling expenses. Center for Adoption Research

The Center for Adoption Research was established in 1996. Their mission is to conduct research on a broad scope of issues related to adoption and foster care in MA. Their ultimate objective is to place every child in a caring and permanent home. As UMMS employees, we are fortunate to have access to the resources that the Center for Adoption Research offers. In addition to providing an adoption consultation service for employees they have tip sheets and informational resources available here.
