We are excited to announce the following recipients of the 2013 Mission Award & Community Service Award that were announced and celebrated at the Employee Service Award dinner on Nov. 20th. The celebration took place at the new Albert Sherman Center and the Chancellor presented the awards to the recipients.
The Chancellor's Award for Advancing the UMMS Mission was presented to Jack Luippold, Director of Public Safety, for his intuitive understanding of the critical importance of assuring a welcoming and safe environment for all members of our campus community—those who learn, teach, conduct research, work, provide clinical services, seek care or simply visit here. Moreover, he keenly recognizes his special role in promoting such a secure environment, enabling our mission areas to flourish and our community members to contribute freely to the vitality and dynamism of the campus.
The Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Community Service was presented to Bill Tsaknopoulos, Director of Auxiliary Services. Bill is a true champion of individuals with disabilities, terrific ambassador for our medical school and cherished colleague to so many on our campus. Despite the rigors associated with his position as director of auxiliary services, throughout his tenure here, Bill has devoted his personal time to supporting the Genesis Club, which has a mission to assist individuals in recovery from mental illness in attaining education, employment, housing, wellness and friendships.
