Directions to the South Street Campus

 

 

 

333 South Street
Shrewsbury, MA 01545

From I-495: 

North or South take exit 23B from Rte 495 to Rte 9 West (towards Auburn and Worcester). Continue west approximately 6 miles. Take a left at the traffic light directly in front of Wagner Kia onto South St. As you head up the hill you will see a University of Massachusetts sign on your left, take a left here and follow the access road to Chestnut St stop sign. Take a right at the stop sign, South Street Campus is located on the left hand side of the road.

From I-290 or I-190: 

From Rte 190, take Rte 290 East. Stay on Rte 290 to the Rte 140 South exit. At the end of the ramp, take a right, follow this to downtown Shrewsbury. You will come to a set of lights, go straight through the lights, travel approximately 1 mile, and take a right at the Rte 9 East sign. At the set of lights take a right onto South St. Heading up the hill you will see a University of Massachusetts sign on your left, take a left here and follow the access road to the Chestnut St stop sign. Take a right at the stop sign, South Street Campus is located on the left hand side of the road.

From the Mass Pike/Boston Area: 

Take Mass Pike West to Rte 495 North exit 11A to Rte 9 West towards Auburn and Worcester. Continue west approximately 6 miles. From the Mass Pike/Sturbridge - Springfield Area: 

Take the Mass Pike East to exit 10 in Auburn. Take Rte 290 East to the Rte 140 exit towards Shrewsbury. At the end of the ramp, take a right, follow this to downtown Shrewsbury. You will come to a set of lights, go straight through the lights, travel approximately 1 mile, and take a right at the Rte 9 East sign. At the set of lights take a right onto South St. Heading up the hill you will see a University of Massachusetts sign on your left, take a left here and follow the access road to the Chestnut St stop sign. Take a right at the stop sign, South Street Campus is located on the left hand side of the road

South Street Campus to Boston Logan Airport: 

Take a left out of the west parking lot. Go straight to end of the road until you reach Rte 9. Take a right onto Rte 9, heading East. Go approximately 6 miles and take 495 South. Once on 495 South, take the next exit which is the Mass Pike. Go East on Mass Pike towards Boston. Once in Boston follow the airport signs.

Directions to the Shaw Building

 

 

 

419 Belmont Steet, Worcester, MA  

From the Mass Pike: 

Eastbound: At Exit 10, take I-290 east to exit 21, turn right at the end of the ramp and follow Plantation Street south.  Make a left onto Rt. 9.  The Shaw Building will be on your left, on the corner of Route 9 and Lake Avenue. Westbound: At Exit 11, turn left onto Route 122 North for one mile, turn right at third light onto Sunderland road, left at first light onto Lake Ave. for 2.5 miles and cross Route 9.  The Shaw Building will be on your left. 

From I-495: 

Northbound: At Exit 23, take Route 9 West.  After crossing the Lake Quinsigamond Bridge and the intersection of Lake Avenue, the Shaw Building is the first building on the right at the corner of Route 9 and Lake Avenue. Southbound: At Exit 2, take I-290 west to exit 22, turn right at the end of the ramp, at second traffic light turn left onto Plantation Street and proceed south.  Make a left onto Rt. 9.  The Shaw Building will be on your left, on the corner of Route 9 and Lake Avenue. 

From I-190: 

At the merge of I-290 Shrewsbury exit (watch for exit ramp on left), take I-290 east to exit 21, turn right at the end of ramp and follow Plantation Street south.  Make a left onto Rt. 9.  The Shaw Building will be on your left, on the corner of Route 9 and Lake Avenue. 

From I-290: 

Eastbound: At Exit 21, turn right at the end of the ramp and follow Plantation Street south.  Make a left onto Rt. 9.  The Shaw Building will be on your left, on the corner of Route 9 and Lake Avenue. Westbound: At Exit 22, turn right at the end of the ramp, at second traffic light turn left onto Plantation Street and proceed south.  Make a left onto Rt. 9.  The Shaw Building will be on your left, on the corner of Route 9 and Lake Avenue.

Directions to the Hoagland-Pincus Conference

222 Maple Avenue, Shrewsbury, MA  

From the Main Campus: 
Take Route 9 East over Lake Quinsigamond. At third set of traffic lights after the bridge, bear left onto Maple Avenue (intersection marked by Fairlawn Shopping Center, Chili's Restaurant). Follow Maple Avenue up the hill. At top of hill turn left at the maroon sign for UMMS Worcester Foundation Campus. The Hoagland-Pincus Conference Center is the first building on the right.
 

From the MassPike (I-90): 
Westbound from Boston: Take Exit 11A to Route 495 North to Route 290 West.
Eastbound from Springfield: Take Exit 10 to Route 290 East.
 

From Route 290: 
Westbound from Marlborough: Proceed on Rte 290 West till Exit 22 - Main Street, Shrewsbury. Take Exit 22, at end of ramp take a left onto Main Street.
Eastbound from Auburn: Proceed on Rte 290 East till Exit 22 - Main Street, Shrewsbury. Take Exit 22, at end of ramp take a right onto Main Street.
 

Once on Main Street, Shrewsbury: 
Proceed on Main Street through first set of traffic lights and up the hill. Take right onto Gage Lane (the first right after passing St. John's High School). Follow Gage Lane till the end. At end, turn right onto Maple Avenue. Proceed one-half mile, turn right at the maroon sign for UMMS Worcester Foundation Campus. The Hoagland-Pincus Conference Center is the first building on the right.

Directions to Mass Biologic Labs

305 South Street, Jamaica Plains, MA

FROM ROUTE 128 (Route 95), NORTHBOUND

 

 

  • Take Route 1 North (Exit 15A North).   Continue on Route 1 to Route 203 at Rotary in Jamaica Plain.  
  • Turn right at Route 203 East, The Arborway.   The Arnold Arboretum will be on your right.  At end of Arboretum you will see that Route 203 continues on an overpass.  To the immediate right of the overpass is an exit.  Take this right.  Do not go on overpass. 
  • At end of exit ramp, turn right onto Washington Street. 
  • Take first right (at set of lights) onto South Street. 
  • Entrance to State Laboratory Institute (Mass BioLabs located on the grounds of the SLI) is first right off South Street. The SLI campus has 3 buildings: an 8-story tan/grey cement building called the SLI Building, in the middle is   a 2-story square brick building called the Biologic Building, farther to the left is a 2-story “cottage-style” brick building called the Stable. 
  • Free visitor parking is available in front of the SLI building. 

 FROM KENMORE SQUARE, BOSTON 

  • Follow Brookline Avenue to Route 1.  Turn left at Route 1, the Jamaicaway (South). 
  • Continue on the Jamaicaway to 2nd rotary to Route 203 East, the Arborway. The Arnold Arboretum will be on your right.
  • At end of Arboretum you will see that Route 203 continues on an overpass.  To the immediate right of the overpass is an exit.  Take this right.  Do not go on overpass.
  • At end of exit ramp, turn right onto Washington Street.
  • Take first right (at set of lights) onto South Street.
  • Entrance to State Laboratory Institute (Mass BioLabs located on the grounds of the SLI) is first right off South Street.  The SLI campus has 3 buildings: an 8-story tan/grey cement building called the SLI Building, in the middle is  a 2-story square brick building called the Biologic Building, farther to the left is a 2-story “cottage-style” brick building called the Stable.

 FROM SOUTHEAST EXPRESSWAY (COMING FROM THE SOUTH SHORE) 

  • Take Neponset Exit 11B to Gallivan Boulevard, Route 203. 
  • Make a U-turn and follow Route 203 onto Morton Street
  • When you approach the rotary, take road just to the right of the overpass.  The Arborway Station (MBTA) yard will be on your right.
  • At second lights, take left onto Washington Street.
  • At next light take right onto South Street.  (Forest Hills Station will be on your left at this light.)

  • Take Exit 11B (Granite Avenue – Ashmont), bear right and follow Granite Avenue to second set of light.  Turn left onto Gallivan Boulevard (Route 203).
  • Stay on Route 203.  Gallivan Boulevard will lead into Morton Street.
  • When you approach a rotary, take road just to the right of the overpass. The Arborway Station (MBTA) yard will be on your right.
  • At second lights, take left onto Washington Street.

  • Take Mass Pike East (Route 90) to Exit 14, Route 128 South.
  • Take Route 128 South to Exit 20A, Route 9 East.

  • Take either Route 93 South or Route 1 South to the Southeast Expressway.  Take Exit 11B (Granite Avenue – Ashmont), then follow Directions

FROM BOSTON BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION 

  • Take the MBTA Orange Line to the Forest Hills Station (last stop on Orange Line).  After exiting through turnstiles, go Left to exit the station.  Make another left once outside the station and proceed up the hill (South Street).  Entrance to State Laboratory Institute (Mass BioLabs located on the grounds of the SLI) is first right off South Street.  The SLI campus has 3 buildings: an 8-story tan/grey cement building called the SLI Building, in the middle is  a 2-story square brick building called the Biologic Building, farther to the left is a 2-story “cottage-style” brick building called the Stable.

From Western Massachusetts
Take I-90 east, the Massachusetts Turnpike, toward Boston. Once you arrive in Boston, get in your left lane and take the I-93 north exit. From I-93 north, take Exit 28-Sullivan Square Exit Only (exit right). At the bottom of the ramp, take a right. Go through the next set of lights and enter the Sullivan Square rotary. From the rotary take your 2 nd right off the rotary – you will see the Schrafft Center on your left. Turn left into the parking lot.

New Hampshire and North Shore 

Take I-93 south to Exit 28-Sullivan Square exit and stay to the left. Follow ramp sign to Sullivan Square. Go through the set of lights around the rotary – you will see the Schrafft Center on your left. Turn left into the parking lot.

From Rhode Island and South Shore 

Take I-95 north to I-93 North to Exit 28-Sullivan Square Exit Only (exit right). At the bottom of the ramp, take a right. Go through the next set of lights and enter the Sullivan Square rotary. From the rotary take your 2 nd right off the rotary – you will see the Schrafft Center on your left. Turn left into the parking lot.

Please Note: If you do require parking, you will have to stop at the gate house to get a temporary pass to park in the lot. Parking is free.
