UMMS traditionally implements an annual merit program. The merit budget is set by the university and rewards individual performance over the previous period based on competitive market considerations and the university’s financial situation. Generally, performance should meet expectation for an employee to receive a merit increase. For employees represented by a union, salary increases are established by the collective bargaining contract.
