The dental insurance is available to SHARE and non-union employees, their spouse and children up to age 26. You may elect dental coverage in one of two dental plans. UMMS pays the entire cost of the Basic Plan for individual or family coverage. If you enroll in the Plus Plan, both you and UMMS share in the cost. For the Plus Plan, individual coverage is $6.79 biweekly and family coverage is $26.94 biweekly.
(If you are in the AFSCME, MNA, NAGE or NEPBA union, you receive your dental insurance through the union. Please contact the union for more information).
If elected, coverage begins on the first of the month following 60 days of employment. You must enroll within 30 days of initial eligibility.
You may change your election if you have a change in family status. Plan changes may be made during the Open Enrollment period which occurs each April/May for a July 1 effective date.
Important Note: Your Member ID with CIGNA Dental is your UMass Employee ID preceded by a "0" (zero). We do not feed Social Security numbers to CIGNA. CIGNA has a pseudo SSN in their system that is assigned to you.
