Graduate Entry Pathway (GEP) to master's degree is for individuals with a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing.

Traditional Master's 

Traditional Master's  degree is for registered nurses with a bachelor's degree in nursing.


The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program, is a practice doctorate that prepares graduates in advanced nursing practice leadership as advanced practice nurses including post master's nurse practitioners and nurse administrators in leadership roles.


The PhD in Nursing

The PhD in Nursing Program is a research doctorate for nurses interested in conducting research and teaching careers.


As a student in the Graduate School of Nursing, you'll have access to a comprehensive learning resource center and the university libraries, in addition to rich clinical experiences with individuals, families, and communities. The faculty and staff of the Graduate School of Nursing are committed to seeing you achieve your goals. Your success is their success and they take great pride in it. 

The UMW Graduate Program in Nursing has transitioned to an all DNP program and curriculum in 2016 for the preparation of Nurse Practitioners.
