The Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) research mission (see figure below) is to provide students and faculty with a scholarship research cluster based on partnerships and collaboration.

Our research focus is on individual-family health behaviors in chronic conditions with faculty focusing on chronic disease management and support for individuals and families with HIV/AIDS and other infectious conditions, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disorders, community health disparities and workforce development for high quality health care.

The GSN is part of the UMMS Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), The CTSA program is led by the National Institutes of Health's National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). We have additional research resources including Office of Research, Human Subjects and Conquering Diseases programs

The GSN Research Advisory Committee (RAC) is an innovative standing committee thatwas initiated to identify and provide faculty with opportunities to access the support they need to further develop their programs of research or scholarly projects that address individual, family and /or community needs.

RAC also interfaces with the CTSA in an effort to develop innovative interdisciplinary research teams through team science that include nurse scientists and students. RAC provides guidance and support to equip faculty and students with the tools and research-related resources needed to tackle research or projects that deal with complex health problems
