Global Health Advisory Board

The Advisory Board to the Office of Global Health was organized in 2009 and charged with the responsibility to:

1. Organize and coordinate global health efforts across UMMS departments and programs.
2. Partner with other UMMS programs/departments and UMass campuses to develop innovative international clinical, educational, and translational research programs.
3. Administer peer-reviewed grants to initiate or expand global health projects.

The Advisory Board meets twice a year to provide advice on strategic planning, policies, and programs. The current members of the Advisory Board are as underlisted:

Guangping Gao, PhD, Professor Department of Microbiology and Physiological Systems, Director Gene Therapy Center & Vector Core, Scientific Director UMMS-China Translational Research Initiatives.

Javier Gordon Ogembo, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine.

Jeroan Allison, MD, MS, Professor and Vice Chair of Quantitative Health Sciences, Professor of Medicine and Associate Vice Provost for health disparities research.

Melissa Fischer, MD, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education.

Patricia McQuilkin, MD, Clinical Associate Professor, Pediatrics.

Raffi Van Aroian, PhD, Professor of Molecular Medicine.
