Geriatric medicine is an interdisciplinary approach to medical care for the older adult. Our geriatricians focus on looking at the complete picture of the patient to ensure that medical issues are addressed, to promote wellness, and provide preventive care that helps patients maintain functional independence as long as possible.
Patient care is provided at the Geriatric Medicine Clinic which focuses on the primary care of the older adult. Some issues that face the elderly that our geriatricians address include multiple chronic illnesses, incontinence, frequent falls, memory problems, and side effects caused by multiple medications. Services include geriatric assessment and consultation, fall evaluation, evaluation of memory.
Members of the geriatric division also do home visits and long-term care. Members of the division provide medical care in several of the area’s skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. Among others, geriatricians work as a team with nurse practitioners, social workers, and physical and occupational therapists to ensure the best care for their patients.
The Geriatric Medicine Clinic is located on the Memorial Campus, Ground Floor South, 119 Belmont Street, Worcester, MA.
