On October 8th, the UMass Memorial Development Office hosted Pink: Lighting the Way to a Cure. The event was attended by over 250 women and men who celebrated the lives of those touched by breast cancer by lighting a candle in honor or in memory of them. The event was chaired by Audrey Kurlan Marcy and emceed by Joyce Kulhawik, Arts & Entertainment critic, and three time cancer survivor. Also included were special messages from Hoda Kotb, co-anchor of the fourth hour of the "Today Show" and "Dateline" NBC correspondent as well as, Linda Ellerbee, writer and host of "Nick News", Nickelodeon. The Way to a Cure: A Community Forum Community survivors shared their experiences with the audience and Dr. Robert Quinlian, Surgical Oncologist at UMass, discussed the latest advances in research and care. A surprise auction of three items autographed by Meryl Streep took place and raised $1,150! Click here to view some of the photos from the event.
