Convocation 2009

UMass Medical School celebrated Convocation on September 18th, marking the beginning of the new academic year and honoring new faculty, newly tenured faculty and those who have been promoted to full professor.  After addresses by Chancellor Michael Collins, MD, Provost and Dean Terry Flotte, MD, and keynote speakers, authors James Patterson and Hal Friedman, the school hosted a barbeque for faculty, students, staff and guests.  Click here to view a slideshow of the events.  You may also read the Chancellor's Convocation address to the UMass Worcester community titled, A Time For Bold Action.


Second Year Oath Ceremony

The Class of 2011 gathered together on April 28th to reflect on the ethical and professional responsibilities of becoming a physician. The class recited their Class Oath and received their UMass lapel pins. Michael Hirsh, MD, chief of pediatric surgery at UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center and professor of surgery and pediatrics at UMass Medical School, was the keynote speaker.
