About Us The UMass Memorial Foundation was established in 1998 as a 501(C)(3) nonprofit corporation to benefit the University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Health Care. Private philanthropy has been crucial to enabling us to help educate tomorrow's medical leaders, support innovative research, and provide the best of patient-centered care. The Foundation helps to accelerate the efforts to: - control and treat diabetes, cancer, heart disease, stroke and arthritis;
- increase the understanding of brain disorders and neurological conditions and their treatment;
- pioneer life-saving surgical techniques; and
- educate tomorrow's most sought-after leaders in medicine, nursing and biomedical research.
