UMMS Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry
Additional Program Details
Fellows receive a stipend of $59,462.00 plus UMMS medical benefits and professional liability insurance. In addition, the fellow may draw up to $1,500 from an account that provides for professional conference expenses, books, and supplies. Reference needs are met by access to the UMMS Lamar Soutter Library , the Worcester County Bar's Law Library, and to the extensive psychiatry holdings at Clark University. For legal research, the Forensic Psychiatry Program has access to the Lexis/Nexus computer services, located at the Lamar Soutter Library. Computer access is available at Worcester State Hospital and at the UMMS library.
The Law and Psychiatry Program is itself a significant resource to fellows because of its many activities associated with public sector mental health services in Massachusetts. The Program, under a contract with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, is responsible for the continuing education and certification of all forensic mental health professionals who work in Massachusetts' inpatient and court clinic services. It also manages the state's database for archiving all forensic evaluations performed throughout the state's inpatient and court clinic forensic programs.
