About the Family Medicine Hospitalist Service: 
- Established in July 2005
- While part of the second largest
Hospital Medicine Division on the East Coast, our service is primarily 
  comprised of family medicine-trained faculty

Memorial Hospital is an active community hospital with 319 beds and 13,628 discharges
 (9,327 of them medical in 2010) with a monthly average of 1,136 discharges
- Our service had a monthly average of 91 discharges for the year 2010 

Our Patient Care Focus: 
- Acute adult care 
- Nuclear cardiac stress testing
- Perioperative care
- Newborn care and participation in the Circumcision service 
 

Resident-Centered Education -  we work closely with the UMass Family Medicine Residency program and its health centers:
- Daily bedside rounds
- Morning report twice a week
- Lectures twice a week on core
SHM topics
- Procedures supervision
- 2 nights call weekly with our Nocturnist

Medical Student Education:
- Family Medicine Hospitalist faculty actively mentor medical students
- 4th year medical students rotate on our service
- We participate in 3rd year family medicine clerkship and curriculum
