Overview:
UMass Memorial LifeFlight provides nurse/emergency physician staffed air medical response to New England. The first dedicated air medical program established in New England [September 1982], Life Flight currently operates an EC-145 aircraft and a dedicated ground ambulance for local missions during inclement weather. The program transports over 1,400 patients annually. Emergency medicine residents acquire a significant portion of their EMS training while serving as Life Flight Physicians. Attending staff and fellows also participate as Flight Physicians providing education and program direction.
