About the Chancellor's Awards

The Chancellor’s Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence in Diversity is bestowed annually upon an individual or group exemplifying characteristics embodied in the Medical School’s Diversity Statement outlined in the attached nomination form.  Similarly, the Chancellor’s Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence in Civility is bestowed annually upon an individual or group that best exemplifies the values described in UMMS’s Civility Statement, also outlined in the attached nomination form.  One page nomination summaries for both awards are due to the Diversity and Inclusion Office by December 30, 2016. In order to ensure each candidate is evaluated on the same basis of similar documentation, summaries in excess of one page will not be considered.  A selection committee determined by the CEOD and Civility Committee will review all of the nominations and choose candidate finalists to forward to the Chancellor who will choose the award recipients. The institutional awards will be given at our annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration in January.

There are many individuals in this institution who work to advance our diversity and inclusion goals and who uphold the values of civility. We encourage you to make the appropriate nominations.  If you have any questions, please feel free to direct them to the Diversity and Inclusion Office at 508-856-2179 or diversity@umassmed.edu

Individuals are nominated for consideration of an award, with selection by the Chancellor. See the individual award details under each award tab.
