Undergraduate Medical Education

The Division of Dermatology and its faculty are deeply involved in Undergraduate Medical Education via leadership roles as course directors, teachers, collaborators with faculty in other departments, committee members, program developers, and student mentors/advisors.

The division manages the pathophysiology component of Biology of Disease (BOD), a significant course in the 2nd year which includes an eight week Dermatology block.  We host third year medical students in 1 week “Selective” rotations.  Faculty members and senior residents lead multiple conferences throughout the year for internal medicine, pediatric, family medicine, and emergency medicine residents at UMass.

The Dermatology rotation welcomes fourth year UMass Medical School students, visiting medical students interested in dermatology, and UMMS residents from other specialties.  During this rotation, visitors are able to attend a variety of general and subspecialty clinics including adult medical dermatology at our Hahnemann Campus and VA Clinic, pediatric dermatology, surgical clinics including Mohs micrographic surgery, contact dermatitis clinic, laser clinic, epidermolysis bullosa clinic and genodermatosis clinic.  There is also a pediatric dermatology rotation available on a case by case basis.

If you are interested in rotating with us, please visit the Office of Student Affairs website for more information and an application. Click here to learn more. UMass utilizes the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS).
