Purpose
The Flow Cytometry Core allows DERC investigators to measure the physical and chemical characteristics of cells or other biological particles. We can simultaneously measure each cell in a sample with regard to relative cell size, internal cellular complexity, relative fluorescence intensity, and multiple color/parameter analysis (up to 14 colors, 16 parameters).
Using state-of-the-art sorting equipment and analyzing capabilities, the Flow Cytometry Core provides the capacity to rapidly analyze thousands to millions of cells and provide a distribution rather than an average of the measured characteristics in the cell sample.
Assist investigators sort unscreened human and non-human primate blood, blood products and infected cell lines
Perform flow cytometric analysis
Provide data interpretation
Conduct educational workshops, seminars, instrument and software training
Provide consultation to investigators on experimental designs
Offer state-of-the-art equipment, including
three 2-laser FACSCaliburs
a 3-laser FACSVantage SE cell sorter
a 3-laser 11-color Digital FACSVantage DV2 cell sorter
a 4-laser 10-color LSRll analyzer
a 4-laser 14-color LSRll analyzer
a 3-laser 10-color MoFLo cell sorter
a dedicated BSL3 4-laser 14-color high speed FACSAria cell sorter
(DERC members have priority in obtaining core services. Note that acknowledgement of the use of DERC Scientific Core resources is required in any resultant publication, paper, or presentation.)
