The Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2)

The Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center is a lifeline for the state’s smaller medical device companies, offering inventors and executives easy, affordable and coordinated access to world-class researchers and resources at the Lowell and Worcester campuses of the University of Massachusetts.

M2D2 can help smaller firms convince venture capitalists that they too have marketable ideas and products. In fact, M2D2 can help develop viable products every step of the way, from proof-of-concept to commercialization. Tapping broad-based expertise in engineering and the conduct of clinical trials, M2D2 assists companies in meeting FDA standards for medical device design and controls, materials selection, material procurement and control, prototype development, process development and validation, GMP Phase I manufacturing, sterile package design, process and testing, and all stages of medical device clinical trials.

Center for Clinical and Translational Science CCTS banner

By establishing the University of Massachusetts Center for Clinical and Translational Science (UMCCTS), we intend to translate our pioneering advances in education, research and health care delivery. The Center serves as the “home” for clinical and translational scientists across all UMass campuses, providing essential resources for a vibrant clinical and translational research enterprise capable of translating scientific discoveries into clinical applications and on to Massachusetts communities. Members of the Center may receive many benefits, such as eligibility to apply to special pilot grant programs and reduced rates for use of research core services.
