
Post-Master’s Certificate Admissions
Requirements for Admission
The applicant must have a master’s degree in nursing from an NLNAC- or CCNE-accredited institution.
Applications to the Post-master’s Certificate Program will be considered complete when all of the following have been received:
evidence of unrestricted Massachusetts licensure as a registered nurse;
application fee made payable to the University of Massachusetts;
official transcripts from graduate and undergraduate programs;
three letters of recommendation from people with whom the applicant has been in contact within the last five years. At least one letter of reference must be from a professional nurse who has recently been responsible for evaluating the applicant’s professional nursing practice. One letter of reference should be an academic reference from a person with an advanced degree; the third letter should be a professional letter of reference related to academic, work or volunteer activities;
a clear personal statement indicating goals of study;
three short essays;
demonstrated competency of advanced health assessment through successful completion of clinical performance examination or enrollment in NG615; and
CPR Certification for Health Providers (BLS) by the American Heart Association.
Application Deadline: April 15th
Applicants to the
Post-master’s Certificate Program do not need to take or repeat the GRE. Qualified applicants will be admitted on a space-available basis.
