The Department of Radiation Oncology remains one of the largest clinical and academic departments in the eastern United States. The department manages 8 clinical facilities with 12 linear accelerators with the majority of facilities equipped with daily image guidance and four dimensional planning. Each campus is fully equipped for advanced technology therapy including intensity modulation treatment and stereotactic radiosurgery and body radiotherapy. The department maintains a strong brachytherapy service in multiple disease sites. Each radiation oncologist maintains strong relationships with our disease based multi-disciplinary programs within the Cancer Center to insure outstanding patient care and clinical service.
The department campuses are at Health Alliance in Fitchburg, University and Memorial campuses in Worcester, and Marlborough campus in Marlborough. The department practice includes Holyoke Hospital in Holyoke, Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, and St. Elizabeth Hospital located in Brighton.
Being a part of the UMass Memorial Cancer Center of Excellence, patients are treated with sophisticated technology. The Department delivers more than 34,000 external beam treatments each year.
